The U.S. Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the quake was about 125 kilometers west of the capital of Port-au-Prince. People in the tiny Haiti nation ran fast into the streets for safety and to help rescue those trapped in the rubble of collapsed homes, hotels and other structures.
The earthquake disaster added to the tiny & poorest nation who were already struggling with the coronavirus pandemic, a recent presidential assassination and a crazy wave of gang violence. It was not too long ago that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred in 2018.
Tropical Storm Grace is predicted to reach Haiti within the next couple days, which it’s bringing torrential rains and flooding. The U.S. President Joe Biden authorized an immediate response and named USAID Administrator Samantha Power to oversee the U.S effort to help Haiti.
